31 Mar 2020: Companion Musical Chairs

Hello!

We have had quite the week down here in Henderson, Nevada, and it all took place inside one tiny little missionary apartment!

On Wednesday, we had to say goodbye to our companion, Elder Palmer, who finished his mission that day. It was sweet to see how happy he was to be with his family again. After that, a missionary that Elder Troya and I had served around in the past became our third companion. His name is Elder Gonzalez. He is from Clarkston, Utah. Cool name for a town, right? ðŸ˜‰

On Thursday we had a really cool lesson with this family we started teaching in our South Valley Ranch Ward. All of our lessons are over video chat now, and this family, of four kids and a mother, we taught them the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It was cool, Elder Troya especially had a lot of fun teaching them. The coolest part was at the end of the lesson, the oldest kid said that he thinks that this faith is the right path for him. Apparently he had not liked any religions in the past, but he really felt the Spirit testify to his heart that this was true. Isaac is his name and he has some challenges that will come his way, but that lesson was critical for him. The kids accepted to be baptized on April 25th! The mom has somethings that are holding her back from accepting to be baptized as well, but we have a lesson with them on Thursday that will help her understand it. Hopefully it works out!

On Saturday, we had just finished daily planning in the morning, when our leaders called us to tell Elder Troya that he was going to have to be at the mission office by 5pm to be transferred to Kingman, Arizona! That was a shocker. For that reason I entitled my email "Companion musical chairs" because we had so many switch ups. A lot of missionaries had to go home for medical reasons, or because their home country would be closing. It was sad to see them go. Also so many missionaries are coming in from foreign missions. It is crazy!

On Sunday we had a nice "sacrament meeting" in our apartment. We can't go to member's houses anymore to do church services. Oh well.

Yesterday we got notice that Elder Gonzalez and I would be staying together for my last transfer. I am also staying in Alta Vista and South Valley Ranch. That will make a total of 10 and a half months in the Alta Vista Spanish Branch. I know I am still here for a reason, and I am going to find that person or hopefully, the family that will accept the gospel of Jesus Christ while I am here. I have started receiving emails about organizing my departure, and I can't believe I am starting my last transfer! I know it is shorter than expected, but I am going to do my best to sprint to the end, for what racer slows down as the finish line grows closer and closer?
