14 April 2020: ¡Oh bebé!
Hello everyone!
We have had a pretty packed week! We have been teaching a lot of lessons to members and non members, but one of the other highlights this week was the fact that Hna Pecjak's (Alta Vista Relief Society President) grandson was born on Friday! The crazy thing about that is that I was in my first transfer here in the branch when I was at her house when her and her husband found out they would be grandparents! When I finish my mission, I will have been in this wonderful branch for 10.5 months!
Some of the lesson highlights were:
-we had a lesson with the Coreas family in which we talked about them going to the temple to be sealed as a family for time and eternity, and wrote down their goals on a whiteboard. We texted Alma a picture of the whiteboard, and she then posted it on her Facebook story, which simply told me how important that was for her
-we had a lesson with Cesar and Jesse and our branch president about the Priesthood, and how important it is. I felt a strong sense of trust from the Lord, and I knew that Heavenly Father trusts us so much, especially those of us who hold His priesthood authority. We literally assist Him in helping His children return back to Him through excersizing the Priesthood worthily. I felt strongly that Heavenly Father and The Savior trust Cesar and Jesse a lot too.
-we had a lesson with the Ángulos and they will now be getting baptized on May 9th, which we are so excited about!
-my highlight of the week was having a lesson with Ana on Saturday, because as we were bearing our testimonies to her, when we finished, she started bearing her testimony right back to us! Oh my goodness, how teaching that woman and helping her come unto Christ has changed my life forever. This branch has changed my life forever.
-one couple in the branch we called while they were getting ready to have dinner, and they are from Venezuela. We asked what they were having, and they said spaghetti and tuna! Then they showed us that it was the most expensive type at Costco, four medium cans costed 30 bucks! I still don't know how I feel about spaghetti and tuna together, but oh well.
I just want to say that this week I have seen my testimony grow a ton about how we can feel joy in our hard times. It sounds so contradictory, but yesterday, after 5 out of 6 lessons fell through, one of them blocking our phone number, at the end of the day I was drained. It was a tough day! But for some reason, I had a feeling of joy and happiness envelope me! We had had a quick lesson with some members that had gone pretty awesomely, and I was so happy, despite the fact that the rest of our day had been in the pits. What a tender mercy from the Lord!
I hope all of you have a great week! Let me know how you all are doing! Stay healthy!
