18 Feb 2020: Stayin' Ali... in Alta Vista!!
Hello!!
Honestly the past week or so it has been hard to find new people to teach and I was kind of expecting a change of area, but when we visited the Coreas family last night, and I looked at this family that I loved so much, I thought "I can't leave this family, I love them just too much" and all feelings of just wanting a change of pace, instantly left me. I could not sleep last night literally just wondering how I would handle leaving that family. And I won't be just yet!!
It's been a great week!!! And it got better this morning when I found out I would be staying in Alta Vista for a 6th transfer, and with Elder Palmer my companion.... And... Elder Troya, my trainee from all the way back in 2018, is joining our companionship!!! I am very excited!

On Saturday we had an event that our district and a few other districts helped out with. It is called the "Saints and Sinners 1/2 Marathon". It was organized by a member of the church about 10 years ago to help raise money for underprivileged families who want to send their kids on missions. Missions are very expensive, and it was so cool to see so many people running from all over the country for it. President Youngblood ran it, and that was crazy to see. He is a grandpa running a half marathon, which isnt unusual for him, he loves to run.
Then after the race we got t shirts and medals for helping out which was sweet! Then we went to the baptism of Ana, my Guatemalan grandma, and it was so beautiful. She was so happy! She cried when I spoke on the Holy Ghost, and cried when I sang to her, and then the other missionaries in the branch joined me. It was such an amazing experience. Her family even came to support her. She pulled us aside after the baptism and just thanked us for staying on top of her in reading the scriptures and helping her get to this point. I think we really witnessed the true conversion of an elect daughter of God.
On Thursday we had a cool dinner and lesson in the home of my mission president and his wife with the Overfield family, a family that we are teaching in our English ward. It was a powerful lesson. I didn't realize how much of a talker my mission president was, but Brother Overfield and President Youngblood connected really well!
Tuesday and Wednesday we learned how to make and made our own guacamole! It was a success!
The Wednesday before her baptism, Ana came to her lesson and spent 20 minutes telling us how happy she was, and how she invited her whole family, and when they asked her why she was doing this, she said that she was happy here, and knew it was true! It was amazing!
It was a pretty packed week of miracles!
Have a great week!
