21 Jan 2020: Food Fails

Hello everyone!

This week was a good one! It was full of your usual ups and downs. Some highlights were:

-the Overfield family came to church in our English ward! That was awesome! They really enjoyed it!

- We somewhat learned how to make Plátanos fritos! It took a try or two, as you will see by the picture I attached, but they were good! We put them in our Arepas that we made, which is a huge Venezuelan staple. Arepa con plátano, but like I said... The first plátano didn't turn out so well. Then we learned a few days afterward that we needed to wait a few more days for the plantain to ripen a little more, so when you fry it, it is more chewy, and less like a potato chip.

My favorite part of the week was our last lesson with Ana. It was on Tuesday, and we taught her in Hna Pecjak's home. We taught her about how we have a living prophet today, and that we can receive personal revelation from Heavenly Father through the Holy Ghost. It was such a powerful lesson. She said that she knows these things are true, and wants to be baptized, but she says that she wants to be sure. She said "I don't want to play with God, and I want to be fully committed to the truth."

She is such a sweet daughter of God, and as the lesson progressed, we saw that she just had very small insignificant doubts, but the beautiful thing we were able to teach her, was that doubts do not come from God, only feelings of peace, joy, love, long-suffering, etc do. She has felt all of those things since we have taught her. She offered the most sincere, heartfelt, earnest prayer that I have heard someone I have taught pray, in my entire mission. She is amazing!

The funny part is how embarrassed she was to ask us for another Book of Mormon, because she gave away her copy to someone on the bus or something! She is already doing missionary work!!!

It is awesome! She was sick on Sunday, so we felt that we had to move her baptismal date. We have a lesson tonight with her, and it is going to be awesome! We are sharing the Plan of Salvation with her, and it will be amazing!

I know that anyone who seeks to know truth need only ask God, and walk in faith. Sometimes He doesn't give us answers until we have taken a few steps in faith.

Have a great week!
