25 Dec 2019: When Someone Cares

Merry Christmas!!

I hope everyone has been enjoying a splendid Christmas day, and week! This week has truly been a blessing to me, not just because of the birth of our Savior, but also because I got to see a family truly follow His example, and within that family, a couple experience the joy of repentance, and one of them follow His example through baptism. On Saturday, Alma and José were married, and shortly thereafter, Alma was baptized. I will not share the words said at that service, because there were words said that will forever be cherished in my heart very sacredly. The feelings I felt were indescribable, and were the greatest Christmas or birthday present I could ever have gotten, far better than any food, gadget, clothing article, or any material thing on this earth. It was the greatest gift Heavenly Father has given me, outside of His Son and my own family, to see this family finally, united in the restored gospel of Jesus Christ.

On Monday, for my birthday, the Pecjaks (members in the branch which are like my mom and dad here) held a Family Home Evening, in which we watched some videos about Christ's birth and His coming to the Americas as Risen Lord. We had the Coreas family, and Ana and her grandson, who actually came to church on Sunday! Ana cried during the video about when Christ came to the Americas. We are going to gift wrap a copy of the video and give it to her today, and hopefully invite her to be baptized. She is very prepared! After the videos, they sang happy birthday to me, and I got to patch my family in to that on Video Chat. My family got to meet the Coreas family, and the Pecjaks. That was such a treat for me. I love being a missionary. Nothing else I could be doing on this earth is more important than what I am doing right now.

Feliz Navidad!

The Coreas family on their Special day. During the marriage up top, middle is after the wedding, and bottom is before the baptism. What a special day that was!

Me and my Birthday Arepa. Arepas are a typical Venezuelan food that are kind of like corn meal pancakes that you put meat and cheese and literally whatever you want in them.

Arepa with good ol Lebanon Sweet Bologna! My parents shipped some sweet bologna to me at my request.

The birthday card my Grandpa Elkins made me. He keeps getting better at these cards!
