19 Nov 2019: "Let me tell you how we feel ..."
Hello everyone!
Sorry again for the late email from last week, for some reason my phone doesnt like to work sometimes.
Anyway, we had a really cool lesson witb Shawney on Saturday. We taught essentially just faith and repentance, and how awesome they are. When we have Faith in Christ, we want to do all we can to be like Him, and so we repent, to be more like Him. Repentance is truly a gift from our Father in Heaven. We taught her this, and she opened up to us about some things that she was battling and struggling with. After teaching her some more, we asked her "how do you feel about this, what is going through your head right now?"
She said "Honestly, I am feeling pretty mad at myself right now, because of what I did. I should be better for my daughter...." and she talked about some other things. But when she said that, so much love for her filled me. Seriously, I don't know how it happened, but all of the sudden, I just felt so much love for her. I knew it was Heavenly Father showing me just a small part of His love for her. Then I opened my mouth, and said "Let me tell you how we feel. We are feeling the love that your Father in Heaven has for you, and He is so proud of you and loves you even more because of the steps you are taking to make things right, to repent. Heavenly Father loves you so much." And she started to cry, and we were getting pretty choked up too. It was a beautiful, sacred experience. We made a plan with her for when she will be done with her issues that she is struggling with, and went away rejoicing that the Atonement of Jesus Christ is REAL. We can be forgiven of our sins and can turn to Him because of His Atonement. I love being a missionary!
The other cool thing that happened, was Joan got baptized! She had told us early last week that she has problems with her knees dislocating in water, and so we frantically searched for sufficient knee braces. We were able to get some from heaven sent members of the congregation, and gave them to her. But then, the day of her baptism came, and she had forgotten her knee braces! I thought we were going to have to go all the way back to her home and get them, but she faithfully and determinedly said "I will be fine." It was amazing to see her faith and determination that everything was going to be ok. And she was fine. We had both Elder Sierra and I in the baptismal font, and a shower stool for her to sit on in the water, and the stool floated up when we baptized her. It was a beautiful experience.
Oh yeah, we also had zone conference on Wednesday. That went pretty well. It is always kind of stressful to be at zone conference for me because we are in charge of it. We had to give a training that I was super nervous about, because I didnt want to botch. It went well though!
Hope everyone has a great week!

Zone conference! Elder Loutensock, my former companion, threw up the Utes sign, hence my face of disappointment and disapproval
