12 Nov 2019: Light the World One by One!

Hi everyone!!

In our area we experienced a crazy miracle!! On Thursday, a member we had with us to visit Erika and Joan, told us thst he had been visiting members homes that he ministers to, and a lady answered the one door, and said that she would love to have missionaries over! So the next day we went and visited her and she said that she already reads the Book of Mormon, and resonates really well with it. She told us that her friend is getting baptized on the 23rd, and she is excited for him, and she said that she is planning on going to church with him on Sunday, which she did go! Yesterday we taught her the Restoration, and she was in tears! I have never seen anyone react to that message in that way before! It was such a beautiful experience. Then get this, while planning for the lesson, we both knew that we were going to invite her to be baptized in the first visit, and Elder Sierra felt that we should invite her to be baptized on December 14th. I was feeling a little later because of some concerns, but in the lesson, I felt more like December 14th as well. When she told us that she wanted to be baptized (before we even invited her!!) We invited her to be baptized on December 14th. Guess what she said: "That's my birthday!" *Cue the Spirit doing a Mic drop*

So much happened this week, and I think it would be best if I just add captions to the pictures from this week, but before I do that, I just want to bear my testimony that Heavenly Father loves His children, so much. He loves us so much, He gives us gentle reminders to serve others, and more than anything, remember the example of His Son. One of these reminders, is an initiative that the church is introducing this holiday season. It is called "Light the World: One by One", and I know that this initiative will change the world, because it is all about serving others through small acts of kindness. There will also be a short video portraying the Nativity of the Savior named "The Christ Child". This video will be released November 24th. I can not do this video justice in an email, but it is POWERFUL. We had the opportunity to watch it before it gets released, and I know that as we watch it and invite others to do so, we will grow closer to the Savior.

Here is a link to learn more about it:

I invite all of you to participate in this initiative. I promise you as a representative of the Savior, that if you do, your life will change! There is a video explaining this initiative on the website.

Have a great week!

Saying goodbye to Elder Garcia. He was notified by the Missionary Department that he would be finishing early, and we took him to the mission office to be picked up by his parents. That was a beautiful experience.

Erika decided to get baptized!! She was pretty apprehensive about it early last week, but she decided to do it! The power of prayer is awesome!

Fiesta Internacional in the Alta Vista Spanish Branch. Super fun time, and so many people came that were friends of the members. It was awesome. One member sang "New York, New York!" And I gladly sang along.
