1 Oct 2019: Bicycle! Bicycle! Bicycle!

Hello everyone!
This week I have had a lot of amazing experiences! The first of which was Osvimer getting baptized! The very fact that he was able to get work off for his baptism on Saturday, and his confirmation on Sunday, were miracles in and of themselves! He got called into work literally 20 minutes after sacrament meeting (our first hour of church in which he got confirmed a member of the Church and received the Gift of the Holy Ghost)

On the way to the chapel for the baptism, we rode our bikes, and I had my suit coat draped on the strap of my shoulder bag for convenience. Well, it didnt turn out to be very convienient, because my sleeve got caught in my back brakes, causing me to come to a halting stop, almost falling off my bike. It got my sleeve very dirty, and a little torn up. Hence the reference to the Queen song for my email this week.

Last Friday we had another Mission Leadership Council, which went great! We ended up falling short 1 baptism behind our goal for the month as a mission, which was sad, because the man who was supposed to be baptized, didnt show up to his baptism. However, it was the closest we have gotten to our goal in a year. I have a testimony of goal setting and planning to acheive those goals. Not just in missionary work, I know it is an eternal principle that blesses us in every aspect of life.

That night we had a young man out with us for a few hours that was preparing for a mission. That was a lot of fun. We took him out to see a member family to invite them to help find those who are ready to hear the gospel. Before that, we went to a little bit of a rougher part of Henderson, to see a couple, who had just showed up to our english ward. They opened right up to us. They seemed to me to be completely different people than the couple we had met at church that Sunday. They told us of a lot of challenges that were very real, and unfortunate to hear about. I couldnt imagine what Carson (the young man who was with us) was thinking. They were telling us some pretty personal things, but for me, almost immediately, I felt a very strong feeling of love for them. We changed our lesson on the spot, and testified simply of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, and the reality of the Plan of Salvation. It was an amazing experience, and they have a very desperate and strong desire to receive more light from Christ. I'm excited to keep teaching them. It is a delicate situation though, just because of the emotional and mental situation that they are in.

On Wednesday, we were able to invite Gisele and Luna, a Costa Rican mother and daughter, to be baptized! They accepted to be baptized on November 16th! However, they decided that they want to practice their english, and so we referred them to the missionaries serving in the english ward in their area. I consider it a great blessing to have been able to help teach them.

We had a funny experience on Thursday night. We were at our ESL class, and Osvimer's wife called us, in distress, because she was struggling to write her talk for Osvimer's baptism. It was really funny, she just said

"Hermanos!! AYUDENME!!!!" (Brothers, HELP ME!!) imagine her saying it in a whiny, schoolgirl voice, ha ha. It was really sweet to see her bear her testimony, and give her talk at the baptism. She has only been a member for 7 or so years. That family will be sealed in the temple one day! I know it!

Love you all!
