13 August 2019: Humble pie and miracle whip

Hello!

It's been a great week! We were able to find a lot of really cool people to teach, and we....helped two people set dates for their baptism!!! It was so cool!! Luis, who is originally from Cuba, so he has a super cool accent, and he recently married a member of the church, and we have been teaching him since they got married, and on Saturday we had a member come with us, and at the end we showed a video about a bible story when Peter walked on water. The Spirit was so strong! He accepted a baptismal date for September 21st! What a miracle! After the lesson, he asked what shoe size I was, and when I told him, he came back with two pairs of really nice shoes, barely worn at all! Score!

On Saturday we walked all day, which was pretty good. I like walking as a missionary, because you are always going somewhere. We walked all the way to a dinner appointment, and by this point I was super tired and hungry. This wonderful sister from Venezuela fed us, but we did some service for her. I wasnt too happy that we had to walk to her, because it took a large chunk of our day. When we got there, she put out two hot dogs each for us. At first, I was not too happy, because I was super hungry, and I was hoping to get some cool authentic Venezuelan food, but right after I had that prideful thought, I was served up a large slice of Humble Pie by the Spirit, which gave me a big reprove. I looked at the hot dogs, then I looked at the tiny trailer she lived in, and her lack of a car, and I realized that this sweet sister had given us a feast. She didnt have much at all, but she shared it with us, so at that meal I had hot dogs, and a humble pie all to myself. Once I swallowed the hot dogs and my pride, I felt a very pure sense of love for this Hermana. I know that Heavenly Father loves her and loves me, and I was given a very sacred opportunity to feel this love for her. I hope I get to feel this love for others in this area.
We also started teaching this family in our English ward that is super cool! We are hoping to invite them to be baptized this Wednesday.

Another miracle to add to the miracle whip for this week: the number of grasshoppers has gone down considerably. Turns out it wasnt just a Henderson thing, it was a plague that hit the valley. But now they are mostly gone.

Have a great week everyone!
