Hola todos! We have had a pretty amazing week here in good ole, dusty Henderson, Nevada. So many miracles have happened this past week. Yesterday we had a really fun day finding new people to teach. One lady we found ended up knowing a member from one of my past areas, actually the member was from the Spanish speaking ward that met in one of my past chapels. That was really fun. Her 7 year old daughter thought we were stalkers, ha ha. That was a new one. We also found people from El Salvador, Durango Mexico, Sao Paolo Brazil, and Guatemala. The lady from Guatemala knows Luis and Cinthia, the family that we are teaching right now! That was super cool. Turns out they all work at the Luxor Casino. The Luxor is the pyramid that lights up at the top, if you have ever seen it, on The Strip.  The reason for the title of my email, is not only because it is a great Nat King Cole song that does go great with my name, but it also describes how I have grown to really love the members a...

Hello! It's been a great week! We were able to find a lot of really cool people to teach, and we....helped two people set dates for their baptism!!! It was so cool!! Luis, who is originally from Cuba, so he has a super cool accent, and he recently married a member of the church, and we have been teaching him since they got married, and on Saturday we had a member come with us, and at the end we showed a video about a bible story when Peter walked on water. The Spirit was so strong! He accepted a baptismal date for September 21st! What a miracle! After the lesson, he asked what shoe size I was, and when I told him, he came back with two pairs of really nice shoes, barely worn at all! Score! On Saturday we walked all day, which was pretty good. I like walking as a missionary, because you are always going somewhere. We walked all the way to a dinner appointment, and by this point I was super tired and hungry. This wonderful sister from Venezuela fed us, but we did some service...

6 August 2019: Here Comes the Sun!

Hello everyone!  Hope everyone has enjoyed their week thus far! It has been quite a hot week this week! We had a week of consistently 110+, hence the title. The hottest part of the day temperature-wise is 12-4pm. However the hardest part of the day is 5-8pm, because that is when the sun is the strongest and most in your face, when you really cant look up because everything is so bright.  We had an interesting week as far as finding people to teach, which mixed with the sun, made the work a little harder than usual, but yesterday we had fun finding a Spanish family as well as another family in our English ward.  We had Mission Leadership Council on Wednesday which was really awesome. President Youngblood gave an amazing training on how leadership is very lonely. He said something very powerful about the example of leadership we find in the Prophet Joseph Smith "Do you really think that when that 14 year old boy when he went into that grove of trees to pray that...

30 July 2019: You are learning well ... young grasshopper ...

Hello all! It's quite hot and dusty out here in good 'ole Henderson, Nevada! And along with hot and dust, comes waves and waves of grasshoppers. Seriously, almost every step we take, a cloud of grasshoppers flies around us as we step around them. It's pretty funny, I'm sure it looks even funnier. We also have cockroaches bigger than I have ever seen in our house! That's fun to see when you are brushing your teeth at 10pm at night.  Henderson is way different, in the fact that people have been living in their houses for many years, since Civil War days...(obviously an exaggeration). In Vegas, most people are fairly transient, so you are always meeting very new people. There are people we are meant to teach here though, I know it!!! We fasted (prayerfully went without food for two meals) yesterday, so that we can find those who are ready to receive the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ here in our area. We are working in a Spanish branch which covers the b...
