9 July 2019: I'm Shook ...

Hola todos!!

It's been a crazy week, which has been full of earth-shaking experiences...yes you can take that last part literally. We had two earthquakes this past week. They both occurred in California but we felt them to some degree here in North Las Vegas. The one that happened on the 4th of July, we were in a district council, Elder Dominguez was saying the opening prayer, and all of the sudden, I start moving. I think: "is this what vertigo feels like? This is weird." And then the Elder next to me starts freaking out. It was a crazy experience. It was not super strong, but strong enough to feel it. We had another earthquake the next day, and that was crazy because we had a really spiritual lesson with someone, and as we were leaving the home, the ground starts moving again, and we see the cars around us moving as well. It was a very foreign experience for me.

We had zone conference yesterday, which was amazing!!! I got to conduct the meeting again which was fun, and I also got to sing again, this time with two other missionaries. We sang a children's hymn named "If the Savior Stood Beside Me" and we loosely arranged it from the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square version. It went really well, especially considering I had to come up with a harmony part by ear with very little time to prepare. It was super fun to sing with other missionaries.

We also had exchanges with two elders in our zone which was super fun. One of our ward mission leaders got us pizza, and not just any pizza, but, at my request, Papa Murphy's Hawaiian pizza. For those of you who don't know, this particular type of Take-N-Bake Pizza, is the food that will exist in the Celestial Kingdom of God. We don't have it out east, I think, but when I lived out west, back in the day, this is the pizza I grew up on. It was soooo good.

 A year ago today, I left for my mission. I have reflected a lot on the past year, and how much I have learned. I don't know how much I have changed, other than my weight increase, but one thing I am for certain, is that my testimony that Jesus Christ lives, and that His church is restored to the earth, and that the Book of Mormon is His word with the Bible, has never been stronger. Before my mission, I had a budding testimony, based off of belief of what I have been taught. Now, my testimony is based on that, and experiencing the joy from pure knowledge of these things, and seeing them change others. I guess that's how I have changed, in a way.

Somebody is turning up the temperature on the Vegas Oven 3000 here, so it's getting pretty toasty out here. Enjoy the weather wherever you are (;

Have a great week everyone!
