18 June 2019: North Las Vegas, Utah

Hi everyone!

Its been an interesting first week in my new area! I have learned to love it, however at first, I was totally unnerved, because of how quiet it is up here in North Las Vegas. The part that I am serving in, is very much like Utah, hence the title of this weeks letter. Seriously, the members here are very proactive and missionary minded, and even though I dont see cop cars and drug dealers everywhere I go, the Lord's work wont be frustrated in Laurel Canyon/Mountain Shadows!

We had a pretty fun week, full of running around the zone for district councils, taking a trip down memory lane with previous areas and companions, and many other things. We havent had a ton of lessons, however we were able to find and set for baptism a young lady who lives very close to our new chapel! Miracles abound in North Las Vegas, Utah!

I really had to adjust to being up here, even though I have spent most of my mission in this zone. I got so used to talking and teaching in a certain type of area and a certain type of people. One of the major blessings that I have seen here is that even though the neighborhoods are way nicer, the people are still very humble. We are at the northernmost part of our mission, and I can see the other mission in Las Vegas from a few parts in our area.

My new companion's name is Elder Dominguez. He is from Puebla, Mexico, but more recently from Chino, California. He has been out about a year and a half, and he is sooo humble. Its so fun to work with him because he is just chugging along, humble, and is such a hard worker.

Its been a long, taxing week, full of miracles, and I am ready for more. A quote from the Prophet Joseph Smith became very real to me, that I would like to share with all of you:

"The Standard of Truth has been erected; no unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing; persecutions may rage, mobs may combine, armies may assemble, calumny may defame, but the truth of God will go forth boldly, nobly, and independent, till it has penetrated every continent, visited every clime, swept every country, and sounded in every ear, till the purposes of God shall be accomplished, and the Great Jehovah shall say the work is done"

The Lord's work will go forth ready or not, no matter what, and I as a missionary, as well as all of you, are a part of that great work.

Have a great week!
