Beans, beans, the magical fruit |
This week literally
snuck past me. General Conference was really awesome. We were expecting
some change to come to missionary work, but none came. I loved how the
main theme of Conference that I understood: repentance. Repentance is a
gift from God that we have that literally gives us second chances.
Now
as for the title of this week's chapter in my emails. Yesterday we were
doing service, and the lady that we were helping move had SOOO many
bean bags. I helped move them out of the cupboards, and took a picture
(see pics below).
Two other things I want to share are things that happened on Sunday night and yesterday night.
A
miracle we experienced was on Sunday night. We were trying to find
people to teach, and were have little success. It was at the end of the
night and we felt that we should start heading towards the car. When we
did, we saw a door that was open on the second floor of this apartment
building. We went up and knocked on the door. Two Hispanic women came
out and we started talking to them. One of them thought we were of
another proselyting faith and said she didn't like them. We told her what
church we are from and our purpose, and they were really interested!
They even said that they were interested. They both had had some sad
experiences, that made them really receptive to us. We cant wait to
teach them again!
The
other thing was yesterday during service we got a call from a chaplain
that visits VA Hospitals. He told us of a man who wanted us to go visit
him and give him a blessing. We said we would, and later that day we
went by, and went to this guy's room. When we walked in, I stopped in my
tracks, because I knew this guy. I had met him the 2nd day of the
transfer in my last area. Literally December 20th. And here he was
before me lying in bed. I had never learned what had happened to him. We
had given him a blessing in December and never saw him again. I know
that the Lord is in the details of our lives.
Spiritual
thought: when I was watching the last session of conference, the
opening song was "Come unto Jesus." I felt the Spirit so strong when the
Tabernacle Choir sang that. I know as we come unto the Savior, we will
find peace, and happiness. I have gotten to see the reality of the
Savior on my mission so much, and it makes me so happy that I get to
share His gospel with everyone. I invite you to take up the invitations
you heard in General Conference, and share the gospel with those around
you.
Love,
Elder Lovell
