5 March 2019: YES! YES! YES!

Hola todos!

Alejandro said, "Yes! Yes! Yes!" when he was baptized
This past week has been pretty great! We had the baptism for Alejandro on Saturday, which was so cool. He came out of the water praising God and smiling ear to ear. He kept saying "Yes! Yes! Yes!" It was so cool to see an older man act like a little boy on Christmas Day. He truly wanted to follow Christ, and he is on the best path ever!

We had exchanges on Tuesday and Wednesday with our zone leaders. They serve in the top most part of the mission. Their area is the nice "Henderson" part of North Las Vegas. We did a lot of talking to people. We taught a lesson to a new convert from Mississippi and her goddaughter. They both had really thick southern accents. It was hard to understand them at some points.

We also went to this place called "Raisin' Canes Chicken Fingers" which had amazing chicken. It was pretty great!

When I was on exchanges, I got a text on Facebook from Matt, who I baptized my first transfer in the Young Single Adult ward. He has not been to church since he was baptized, and I was pretty sure he just wanted to walk away from it completely, which was really sad. But the other day I got a really strong impression that I needed to write him a letter. On Wednesday he texted me asking if I had written the letter. I said I did and asked if he had read it. He said he saw a picture of it, that his brother sent to him. Turns out the reason why he hasn't been to church, is because he has been working in Utah, saving money to attend BYU this fall!! I was literally shocked when I read that. I could not believe or fully process what I read in that text message. I was sooo happy!

We also had zone conference yesterday. That was great as always. My mission president really knows how to refocus his missionaries on their purpose. I know that my missionary purpose is divinely ordained from God. It was great. In the morning we had a mix up that was not fun to resolve. My companion and I biked up to the stake center where it was going to be held. Then about a quarter of the way there, we get a call from our zone leaders that the location changed to our chapel, to which we didn't have a key, so we frantically biked back to the chapel, called our ward mission leader, and then when we finally got to the chapel, we got another call from our zone leaders, saying that the location had changed back to the first location, so we had to bike back up the hill to zone conference. You cant make up a mission!

We had a cool appointment on Saturday with a girl named April. She has been going through tough times, and when we started talking about the Atonement of Jesus Christ, tears starting streaming down her face. She accepted a baptismal date without hesitation. Friends, there is no greater privilege I have had, than to be an ordained representative of the Savior, and a beacon of His love for others. There is nothing better I could be doing right now, not in Pennsylvania, Utah, or wherever, than the work I am doing in Las Vegas right now. I am a witness of that fact.

I love this work,
You cant make up a mission,
Elder Lovell

PS. Remember how it snowed a week or so ago? This week we have thoroughly enjoyed sunny temperatures of 70-75 degrees. I love proselyting in short sleeves again.
