8 Jan 2019: Under the Sea
Happy Tuesday everyone!
(Garfield quote for you cultured folks)
Maybe
that's why P-day was switched to Tuesday for our mission, because
Garfield hates Mondays. Just kidding, it's actually so we can go to the
temple.
As for the title
of this week's chapter in the Stupendous Adventures of Elder Lovell in
Sin City, we start out with a strapping young lad, who, when he got
called to serve a mission in the States, breathed a sigh of relief,
because he knew he wouldn't have to eat any outlandishly bizarre foods,
as do some missionaries who serve elsewhere in the world....
Boy, was he wrong.
That
strapping young man happened to be the author of this chapter, me. I
thought when I got called to serve in the United States, I wouldn't have
to worry about eating bizarro food. I was very wrong. This past week, I
got to eat a certain sea creature that rhymes with the word Sid.
Yes I ate a squid.
It
wasn't bad. But it wasn't amazing. It was in this seafood stew type of
thing, with this Filipino family in one of the wards I'm serving in.
It was an experience.
We
had some really really good lessons with Luz. She is getting baptized
soon. She is someone that I am certain that I was called to Vegas
specifically for. She has taken the missionary lessons many time before
and nothing has happened. Now, she is ready, and is so awesome!
We
had interviews with President Youngblood on Wednesday. That was
awesome. He is so easy to talk to. He has become a father figure to me.
We had that lesson with the family that spoke Swahili. That was a fun time. The kids and Google translate provided the communication for us. They were a really nice family.
Thus
it has been another week in the life of Elder Lovell. To close I just
want to bear my testimony of the Savior. This past week, it has been
made very, very clear to me how real He is. Jesus Christ lived, He
suffered for us, He died, and rose again. He is the Light and the Life
of the World. I invite all of you to get to know Him. Read the
scriptures, say your prayers, and I invite all of you to read the
Apostles of Jesus Christs' testimony of the Savior called "The Living
Christ" He is real.
I Lovell you all,
Elder Lovell
Only one pic this week. This is a painting in a member's home. I believe it is my sister's favorite painter.
