29 Jan 2019: Saint Luz
Hey everyone!
We
had a mission tour again this week, which was really cool. President
Carl B Cook of the Presidency of the Seventy came with his wife.
Apparently, President Cook's family is from Lancaster County! I learned a
lot about my calling, and it was a revelatory experience for me.

Luz's baptism |
Its a great day
in Vegas today, and its been a great week! Highlight was Luz getting
baptized on Saturday! It was such a blessing to teach her! There were
over 40 people in attendance at her baptism, and in the circle when she
got confirmed on Sunday, there was probably 15-20 men! Record breaking
I'm sure. Luz bore her testimony at the end of her baptism, and she
started to cry when she talked about us missionaries teaching her. Its
truly been a blessing.
When her sister in law gave
a talk at her baptism about the Holy Ghost, she shared the scripture in
the Book of Mormon: Mosiah 3:19, where it talks about becoming a saint
through Christ. She called her "Saint Luz."
It was awesome. Sunday I met someone in one of my wards who is from my ward in Eugene, Oregon, the Eugene 3rd ward. We talked about it for a while, which was pretty awesome.

Next
week is transfers already! Its crazy how I blink and another transfer
has gone by. It was a good transfer, and I have grown a lot through
serving as a district leader. At the mission tour I learned a lot about
how I should have a model area or an example area for my district. I
have been focusing this week on really being the example in my district.
It makes me really self reliant and look inward and honestly evaluate
myself.
Sorry, I can't
think of any really funny experiences this week. Actually, I probably
did, I just cant remember them and I don't have my journal in front of
me. Oh well.
Soapbox
moment for the week: This past week it was made quite clear to me how
our attitude affects everything. Friends, despite anything that has
happened in the past, we can choose to be happy and look towards the
future with excitement. No matter what has happened in the past, we can
choose to have a positive attitude in any circumstance. I invite all of
you to read or listen to the talk "Grateful in any Circumstance" by
Dieter F. Uchtdorf. Why would we purposefully do anything that makes us
sad? That is about as counterproductive as it gets! If happiness is the
goal, why would we wallow in the sludge of the past? Choose to be happy!
Lovell you guys!
