11 Dec 2018: Humbled by a Homeless Man

Hola todos!

I really don't have a ton of time to email today. We had a Christmas Social yesterday for half the mission, and so they cut our P-Day in half.

Here is my top five for the week in no specific order:

Elder Troya and me
1. We had Zone Conference last Wednesday and the Mission Christmas Social yesterday. I learned a ton of spiritual awesomeness at zone Conference. At the Social yesterday, we had a great time watching a talent show. One elder from Australia somehow got a hold of a French Horn, and played a great piece. One elder did a spot on impersonation of Bing Crosby singing White Christmas, only he sung a parody of it called "Beige Christmas" since we are in the desert. Elder Dougal, my former companion, did cool stand up and magic tricks. We also did a nice service project, painting wooden toy cars for blind children, and a gingerbread house making contest.

2. We were contacting in a neighborhood, and I felt prompted to knock on this one door, and we did, and a young mother opened the door. We shared the Light The World video with her, and testified of Christ's love for her. Her eyes filled with tears and said "Thank you...I needed that." It was awesome. She is coming to church this Sunday!

3. We knocked on this one door, and a guy opens up and says "I have my religion, but you may come in to warm up" so we come in, and he asks us "Regardless of everything you teach, why do you do?" We testified of our Faith in Christ, and how it motivated us to come out here. He was really interested in what we had to say after that. That was a cool experience too.

4. We taught an older lady on Sunday, and she said at the end, after us discovering that we had basically the same beliefs "I don't think you should come back...I don't want to waste your time" I was like "Oh no lady...you aren't getting away with that" I said "I don't think it's been a waste of time at all! We would love to come back!" She scheduled us into her calendar after that...in January. Yeesh.

5. Sunday night, after one of the people we were teaching stiffed us a ride to an activity, a homeless man came up to us. He starts talking to us about Jesus. He was actually really smart about a lot of stuff! Most of his beliefs were spot on! At the end, as him and his girlfriend left, he said "you know why I like you guys? Because you are humble. Humble enough to talk to a homeless man and listen to what he says. You guys are doing a great job!" And left. It was a humbling experience to hear him say that.

Espero que tengan un Feliz Navidad! (I hope you have a merry Christmas!)
