23 July 2019: Crazy Snot and an Unexpected Journey (part 2)

Image
Hello all, Another transfer has come and gone, and once again, I am packing my bags for a very unexpected journey. I found out yesterday that I will be leaving North Las Vegas, and Las Vegas in general, and going on an unexpected 6+ week journey to Henderson, Nevada, which is still in the Las Vegas valley. I will be serving in a Spanish branch there as well as an English ward there! I will also be a zone leader there with another native Spanish speaker from Chihuaha, Mexico! I am very excited to go there, albeit sad that I am leaving Mtn Shadows/Laurel Canyon, and Elder Dominguez. We had a baptism this past weekend, for Simona. It was awesome!! She was sooo happy! We also had a 2 day stake (large group of congregations) activity celebrating Pioneer day. It was really fun!  As for the title of my email, we had a dinner on Sunday with a Hawaiian, family, and they were excited to feed us a meal named "Loco Moco" which in Spanish translates to "Crazy Sn...

16 July 2019: Burning Shirts and Lit Memories

Hello all! Contemplating the year with the burning shirt It has been a great week. Yesterday we had some really good lessons. One lady, who we met a few weeks earlier, we helped her restore her faith in Christ, after she had had some really hard experiences happen in her life that made her question God's existence. By the end of the lesson, she knelt in prayer to ask if what we had taught her was true. It was so awesome. We also had a few exchanges (exchanges are when we switch companions for a day), including with the Assistants to the President in Henderson. It was so much fun. I learned a lot from Elder Salisbury, about being humble. I burned my shirt for my year mark on my mission while we were at their house. That was fun. They had a wood stove that I burned it in. It was a ton of fun.  We also had an exchange with some elders in our zone. It was a fun exchange. One of the Elders ended up getting sick and so they stayed extra long as we went to a ...

9 July 2019: I'm Shook ...

Hola todos!! It's been a crazy week, which has been full of earth-shaking experiences...yes you can take that last part literally. We had two earthquakes this past week. They both occurred in California but we felt them to some degree here in North Las Vegas. The one that happened on the 4th of July, we were in a district council, Elder Dominguez was saying the opening prayer, and all of the sudden, I start moving. I think: "is this what vertigo feels like? This is weird." And then the Elder next to me starts freaking out. It was a crazy experience. It was not super strong, but strong enough to feel it. We had another earthquake the next day, and that was crazy because we had a really spiritual lesson with someone, and as we were leaving the home, the ground starts moving again, and we see the cars around us moving as well. It was a very foreign experience for me.  We had zone conference yesterday, which was amazing!!! I got to conduct the meeting again which was ...

3 July 2019: Racin' Against the Clock

Hi all! I have no time today to write a good size email, but we had a fun time at MLC on Friday. MLC stands for Mission Leadership Council, and that's where the leadership of the mission gets to counsel together. It was a lot of fun! We also had the opportunity to go see some members from my first area in Washington Ave! It was awesome to see the Anderson family for the short amount of time we could.  We also got to have exchanges with one of my first companions: Elder Dougal! That was so much fun, because he is a goof ball, but has a sincere desire to do so much good. It's so cool to see. That's all the time we have today folks!  I love you all! Elder Lovell Pics MLC Carola and Elder Carpio back in my Freedom Park days. She is originally from Germany!
