25 June 2019: Whoa ... I really am halfway there

Image
Hi everybody! Another week has come and gone on my mission here in Las Vegas. It was a really good week full of miracles, food, accidents, and one elder hitting his year mark before he goes home. Yes, one year from yesterday I will be on a plane heading home to Pennsylvania, having completed my full-time missionary service. Because of this little milestone, I have done a lot of reflecting of the past year. I have conquered a lot of fears, as well as surpassed many obstacles. I have become almost completely fluent in a foreign language, even though I have yet to serve in a Spanish ward (#blessings). I have seen literal miracles happen. I have had so many sacred experiences on my mission thus far, and am looking forward to another year of witnessing miracles. We also had to take care of a missionary who had gotten hit by a car while on his bike. He was ok, but we still had to take him to the hospital to get checked out. That ate up the rest of our day yesterday, but a lot of...

18 June 2019: North Las Vegas, Utah

Hi everyone! Its been an interesting first week in my new area! I have learned to love it, however at first, I was totally unnerved, because of how quiet it is up here in North Las Vegas. The part that I am serving in, is very much like Utah, hence the title of this weeks letter. Seriously, the members here are very proactive and missionary minded, and even though I dont see cop cars and drug dealers everywhere I go, the Lord's work wont be frustrated in Laurel Canyon/Mountain Shadows! We had a pretty fun week, full of running around the zone for district councils, taking a trip down memory lane with previous areas and companions, and many other things. We havent had a ton of lessons, however we were able to find and set for baptism a young lady who lives very close to our new chapel! Miracles abound in North Las Vegas, Utah! I really had to adjust to being up here, even though I have spent most of my mission in this zone. I got so used to talking and teac...

11 June 2019: Country Roads ... Take Me Home ... Sunrise Manor!

Hello all, Its been a crazy week. A lot of blessings have happened this week. However, transfers have come. And very unexpectedly, I am leaving beloved Sandhill, and the Paradise/East Zone. It was a short ride, but a very very good one. Since I have been here, since the end of March, I have taught and seen 6 people make a covenant with their Father in Heaven through baptism. Each one of them, and many more people in this area have greatly impacted me, and also the missionaries I have served with while being the Paradise/East zone leader.  I am actually going back to my home zone, Sunrise Manor! I will be the zone leader there, and will be serving in the Northwestern most part of our mission, in an area called Laurel Canyon/Mountain Shadows. My new companion is going to be Elder Dominguez, and I am excited to work with him. Two of the district leaders (missionaries over a smaller group of missionaries) are my former companions! Elder Troya and Elder Dougal! I am so stoked to...

4 June 2019: Families Can Be Together Forever

Image
Hello Everyone! It was a great, yet busy week, full of meetings. But the definite highlight was Andre's baptism on Sunday!!! He is 17, but he was the last member of his family to be baptized, and since I have been here I have seen two of his cousins and his younger brother be baptized. It was such a cool experience, and his mom had returned to activity about a year and a half ago. It was so spiritual, and the closing hymn was "Families can be together forever" it was hard to not get emotional during that hymn. What a day. We also had zone conference on Wednesday, and I got to sing a special musical number for that. I was glad for the experience, it got my performance nerves pumping again. It was a great experience. Friday was our Mission Leadership Council, which went really well. We got to talk about a lot of concerns in the mission.  Our zone did really well this month, and we saw 16 people get baptized in our zone! This month we are hoping to...

28 May 2019: Unspeakable Joy!

Hola todos! This week was a great week. We had Rick's baptism on Saturday, which was a really great experience for everyone. He has now joined the church and made that covenant with God, and is united even more with his wife. Jazmin, one of the first people I baptized in this area, attended Rick's baptism, and bore her testimony while Rick was getting ready. That was really really special for me. I started getting choked up during that. We had a lady named Carol come to church with her member friend, and her friend, Sister De Graff came up to us at church, and said "Do you want to add someone to your teaching pool?" Thats what members say when they want us to teach their friends. We had a really good lesson with her that night, and we are having dinner and a lesson with her tonight with the De Graff family as well. We had a funny experience on Saturday. A really short homeless guy came sprinting up to us with a really really raspy voice, scre...
