22 August 2018: Arrived in NV

Image
Hola mi familia! I just wanted to let you know that I arrived in Las Vegas safely! It was quite a beautiful drive, until we got into the city and I couldn't look out the window without looking back in the car again if you know what I mean... P days are on Tuesdays here, except for next week which it will be on Thursday.  I love you all!  Here is a picture of Elder Cluff and I before we would be separated forever... Traveling to NV today! Vegas here we come! No airport or plane needed ... this was our means of travel to get to NV  Note: The bottom three photos were sent to us from a random helper who took these photos and sent them to the missionaries' families on the day they traveled. It was great to get the update since we weren't able to communicate with Clark that day (aside from the note above that he sent us).

18 August 2018: It's the Final Countdown!

18 August 2018 Hola todos! Well, its the final 4 days before I head out to the scorched terrain of Las Vegas! It's been a great week, with some funny, some sad stories to tell, but I will get to that later. The packing is about ready to start! I am so pumped to get out there! The next email you get from me will be from somewhere in the Las Vegas mission! Here is how it went: Sunday was great, as usual. I gave a talk in sacrament meeting (one of the church services we hold) solamente en Espanol! It went well! Other than that, I had choir, which was awesome as usual. I am going to miss the MTC choir. Directing that choir would be my dream calling. That night we watched an MTC devotional given by Elder Holland entitled "Open your mouth". It was super good and made me super excited for the field. Monday was pretty great, yet average as far as schedule and other stuff goes. Elder Cluff and I ran into some Polynesian elders, one from Tahiti and...

11 Aug 2018: I think I discovered the purpose to the MTC

Elder Johnson, the infamous elder who kicked the volleyball into his face. He is from Alaska, serving in Minnesota 11 August 2018 Hola mi familia y mis amigos! Elder Beadle and me, he is going to BYU after the mission, so hopefully we'll be able to see each other Ha sido una buena semana! Yesterday we got our travel plans, which was super exciting! Your favorite missionary (I'd like to hope (: ) is going to be on a shuttle bus to Las Vegas on August 22nd at 9:30 in the morning! Elder Cluff and I are the last to leave from our district, and the only ones not flying either, ha ha. As for the title of this letter, I have figured out the purpose of the MTC. It is to get you as pumped to go out to the field as possible. They do this by 10 hour study days, repetitive food, etc. I love it, but boy am I getting antsy to get out to the field, ha ha. This week involved a lot more goodbyes, to some elders that I got really close to. Two districts from ou...

August 4th: Whoa ... I'm halfway there ...

4 August 2018 Me w/ Elder Thomas (from my district) waiting for choir. Our choir director is awesome and he is helping put the new Primary Songbook for the Church together! Elder Cogswell and me Hola todos! This week has gone by like a blur! The weeks here are feeling like days. Its pretty crazy! I hit my halfway mark earlier this week, and as of today I have two and a half weeks left at the MTC. If they feel like they have felt the past two weeks, then I will be in Vegas the next time I blink. I have learned a lot this week, especially in the Spanish department. Here is how it went: Sunday was great, I got to be back in the choir, which was so awesome! Elder Cluff and I taught the discussion in Priesthood, which was about The Great Apostasy and the Restoration of the Fulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It went really well. I really like our priesthood meetings here, because they are so discussion based, rather than the teacher just teaching a lesson....
