23 Oct 2018: Raisin Bran Scripture Cases and Peanut Butter Chocolate Tortillas Make the World Taste Good

Image
Hola Todos! I know it's an interesting title, but that's how I get you to read my emails, HA! I have made two significant discoveries this week, both on exchanges with other elders. 1. If you cut a cereal box in half, and tape some nice pictures of the prophet and/or the temple on it, it makes for a nice, not bulky scripture case that you can take with you to appointments. Yes I know I have digital scriptures but I'm an old fashioned kind of elder. 2. If you put a proportionate amount of peanut butter and nutella on a tortilla(normally flour but whatever you prefer) and roll it up like a taquito, you have a nice, quick on-the-go snack: a peanut butter-chocolate tortilla.  Raisin Bran Scripture Case Ok, highlights for the week: - we have had the opportunity teach some really great lessons this week, and one of my favorite people to visit are three guys who are actually returning members who live in a sober living complex, so they are all recove...

16 Oct 2018: Elder Tom Holland and Elder Bruno Mars At It Again in Las Vegas!

Hola Todos mis queridas personas! Elder Troya and me with The Vega Family As the title suggests, one thing Elder Troya and I have figured out this week, is that we make it look like Bruno Mars and Tom Holland decided to serve missions. Ha ha. Just think about it for a sec... This week has been filled with miracles. We have had a lot of success this week.  Highlights:  Ricardo's baptism day! - On Saturday, Ricardo was baptized!!! I kept getting choked up at the baptism, because I have been teaching him for a while, and seeing him make this amazing change in his life for his family, and himself, after having so many struggles before. It was a blessing to be a part of it. On Sunday, I was blessed with the opportunity to confirm him a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and confer upon him the gift of the Holy Ghost. It was an incredible experience. -Yesterday we had new missionary training at the mission office. I...

9 Oct 2018: ¡Bienvenidos a Élder Troya!

Hola todos! It's been a week chalked full of miracles! Elder Troya is my new companion from Park City Utah. He went to BYU for two semesters and is already fluent in Spanish! His family is from Ecuador, so they speak it at home. He has an awesome testimony, and I feel like he came pre-trained, so I really am not doing a whole lot to train, but I am working harder than ever.  Having a bike makes it a little harder to plan the day out, but the natural air conditioning feels great! Right now, Vegas is sitting around 70s-80s right now which is awesome.  Highlights of the week: -Trainer training: Wednesday night before I met Elder Troya, President Youngblood answered all the questions we had as trainers. Elder Dougal and I got there late, because the member that gave us a ride decided to take the entirely wrong way to the mission office. That mixed with Vegas traffic, you get the idea.  - Thursday: we visited a few men thay live in a sober living apartment ...

2 Oct 2018: ¡¿Voy a ser un entrenedor?!

Hola todos! Fun on exchanges with Elder Martinez. Our three generation pic. It has been quite the week. Muchas cosas han pasadas esta semana.  I'm just going to tell you the things that happened in no specific order. So on Thursday, we got home from an appointment around noon. I was feeling a little dehydrated, or something weird. It was giving me wicked diarrhea, but we went on with our day. By dinner, I was really feeling sick. Hermana Calvo, a really nice Hispanic lady in the ward gave me herbal tea to help with my stomach, but I ended up taking a trip to her bathroom, and seeing the fruits of my labors manifest themselves in the toilet. (I vomited). I eventually felt better, and the work went on. Don't tell Dana that I was wearing the tie she gave me. It was pretty messy. So I have been dealing with the after effects of that all week. I am eating more and more little by little. I just called the sister missionary nurse at the mission office toda...
